Video Production                   Year Course 10 Credits

Grade level: 9-12
Prerequisite: None
Suggested Course Preparation/Critical Skills: 1) the ability to work both independently and collaboratively 2) the ability to see a project through from inception to completion
Course Description: This course is designed to acquaint students with the basics the art of video production and to give them experience in producing a daily broadcast of school announcements and news. Students will begin by learning to produce scripts and plan their videos and then move on to production. At that point students will learn basic elements of using a video camera, lighting, operating switching units and character generators, editing, audio mixing, and operating a production studio. Editing will be done in digital format using iMovie and Final Cut Express. This will be a hands-on, project based class with students being responsible for the production of several kinds of videos. These projects will include, but are not limited to, news items, feature stories, public service announcements, composting projects, music videos and short stories.
